MARGHERITA PIZZA
Ingredients
For the Dough
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
2 tbsp olive oil
For the Topping
1/2 cup pizza sauce or crushed tomatoes
200 g fresh mozzarella cheese
Fresh basil leaves
2 tbsp olive oil
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8–10 minutes.
Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 250°C (480°F).
Roll out the dough on a floured surface and place it on a baking tray or pizza stone.
Spread the sauce over the dough. Add sliced mozzarella and drizzle with olive oil.
Bake for 10–12 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
Top with fresh basil leaves, season lightly with salt and pepper, and serve hot.
